Woody died July 19, 2014 in Muleshoe. He was born March 3, 1923 to John Andrew and Eula Mae (Matthews) Wood in Willington, Texas. He married
Floretta Rogers on February 2, 2008.

Background:
Woody served in the US Army during World War II. After being discharged in November of 1945, he began farming in the Amherst community. A.V. married Eddie Lou Thommarson on March 15, 1946. In September of 1964, they moved to Muleshoe, where they purchased Muleshoe Auto Parts. After retiring in 1989, Eddie passed away on June 22, 1993. A.V. then married Mardee Grissom on November 13, 1994. They made their home in Farwell, Texas. Mardee passed away in April 2004. A.V. later married Floretta Rogers on February 2, 2008. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Farwell. A.V. was preceded in death by his wife, Eddie Lou; his wife, Mardee; and his parents.


Survivors:
Survivors include his wife, Floretta; his son, Gary L. Wood, and his wife, Sue of Midland, Texas; one grandson, Michael Wood, and his wife, Sarah; four step-sons, Larry Grissom and his wife, Deandra, Don Grissom, Royce Grissom and his wife, Karen, Chip Grissom and his wife, Rhonda; four step-daughters, Patricia Harden and her husband, Dean, Barbara Wyckoff and her husband, Randy, Elizabeth Washburn and her husband Jimmy, and Katherine Carter; two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Audrey; and numerous step-great-grandchildren.
