Alex died October 22, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born July 17, 1934 in Coleman, Texas to Alfred and Lupe (Saenz) Martinez. He married Melecia Paiz in Beulah, Texas on May 30, 1959.

Background:
Alex was a farmer in the Morton community. He was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Morton. Alex was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include, his wife, Melecia; seven sons, Alex Martinez of Morton, Texas, Charlie Martinez and his wife, Maggie of Lubbock, Texas, Joe Martinez and his wife, Betty of Lubbock, Texas, Sam Martinez and his wife, Stephanie of Lubbock, Texas, John Martinez and his wife, Becky of Wolforth, Texas, Jerry Martinez and his wife, Brandy of Shallowater, Texas and Ray Martinez of Lubbock, Texas; three daughters, Francis Aguilera and her husband, Bert of McKinney, Texas, Mary Ann Honesto and her husband, Peter of Lubbock, Texas and Debbie Hancock and her husband, Craig of Levelland, Texas; five sisters, Amy Sanchez, Helen Grado, Eloisa Sepulbeda, Lola Gonzales and Diane Martinez, all of Morton, Texas; five brothers, Alfred Martinez Jr. of Plains, Texas, Joe Martinez, Raymond Martinez, David Martinez and Gilbert Martinez, all of Morton, Texas; 28 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
