Filiberto died December 17, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born March 18, 1990 in Lubbock, to Filiberto and Maria del Carmen (Galaviz) Derma.

Filiberto was a lifelong member of the Lazbuddie community. He was preceded in death by his father, Filiberto.

Survivors include, his mother, Maria del Carmen Nunez of Lazbuddie, Texas; two sisters, Erica Nunez and her husband, Gustavo of Muleshoe, Texas and Fabiola Nunez of Lazbuddie, Texas; his grandmother, Juana Galaviz of Lazbuddie, Texas; and a brother, Alfredo Chavira of Lazbuddie, Texas.
