Darla Sue  Hightower (Turney)
Darla died March 18, 2015 in Morton. She was born March 11, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to James Pete and Thelma Jean (New) Turney.

Darla was a long time resident of Morton. She worked for Morton ISD and the Public Library for many years. She was the Morton Woman of the Year in 1985. Darla was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church and the Emily B. Smith Study Club. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Shirley Turney.

Survivors include, a son, James Hightower and his wife, Tina of Lubbock; two daughters, Carrie Kimbrell and her husband, Jeff of Morton, Texas and Mary New of Morton, Texas; three sisters, Kathy Gilliam of Morton, Texas, Geneva Turney of Morton, Texas and Barbara Kendrick of Berthoud, Colorado; two brothers, Freddie Turney of Slaton, Texas and Larry Turney of Morton, Texas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
