Helen died April 25, 2015 in Levelland, Texas. She was born April 7, 1922 in Ringo, Texas to William Washington and Mary Isabelle (Saylor) Pitt. She married William Dolphus Ashmore in Coleman, Texas on August 25, 1945.

Helen was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Morton. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dolphus Ashmore; a son, James Ashmore; her parents; two sisters, Eva Raper and Mary Lovell; and five brothers, Herman Pitt, James Pitt, Pete Pitt, Frank Berkshire and Bennie Berkshire.

Survivors include, a son, Mack Ashmore and his wife, Mary of Whiteface, Texas; four daughters, Linda Asich of Kingman, Arizona, Judy Martin and her husband, Syd of New Braunfels, Texas, Suzanne Long and her husband, Donny of Hallettsville, Texas and Pattie Obelgoner and her husband, Robert of Hallettsville, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Ophelia Wesley and her husband, Ken of Levelland, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
