Obituary for Clayton Myers

Clayton  Myers
Clayton died May 14, 2015 at his home. He was born October 23, 1924 in Mineral Wells, Texas to William Lewis and Clyda (Dyer) Myers. He married Gladys Ballard in Portales, New Mexico on December 18, 1946.

Clayton moved to Muleshoe from Stigler, Oklahoma in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Ft. Smith Auctioneer School in 1953. Clayton and his wife, Gladys established Muleshoe Livestock Auction in 1954. They owned and operated the auction for 60 years. It is the oldest single family owned livestock auction in Texas. Clayton also served on the Board of Directors of First Bank of Muleshoe from 1974 until 1991. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys on April 2, 2005, his parents, and five brothers and sisters.

Survivors include, his two sons, C.L. Myers and his wife, Jamie of Muleshoe, Texas and Thurman Myers and his wife, Rhonda of Muleshoe, Texas; his daughter, Patsy Luna and her husband, David of Argyle, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
