Duane died July 18, 2015 in Lubbock. He was born February 26, 1937 in Friona, Texas. He married Loretta Stancell in Lariat, Texas on March 10, 1960.

Duane moved to Lubbock from Muleshoe in 2002. He was the former manager of Bailey County Electric Coop Association, and was on the Board of Directors for the Golden Spread Electric Coop. Duane was a member of the Muleshoe Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; his parents; and a sister, Edith Daniels.

Survivors include a son, Nathan Lloyd and his wife, Susan of Shallowater, Texas; two daughters, Lavayne Pepper and her husband, Tom of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Lacey Ellis and her husband, Don of Lubbock, Texas; four sisters, Bernice Hodges of California, Connie Hawkins of Lubbock, Texas, Josephine Lloyd of Amarillo, Texas and Shirley Simpson of California; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
