Obituary for Emma Lue Wilhite (Herington)

Emma died July 23, 2015 in Farwell, Texas. She was born to Henry Wesley Herington and Wessie Lee Jones Herington on December 7, 1923, in Cushing, Oklahoma. True to the saying, she was a Texan hurrying from Oklahoma to Texas by her third month! On Christmas Eve 1943, Emma Lue married Lonnie Neal Wilhite of Muleshoe and they made their home in West Camp. They had two children: Delton Eugene in September 1947 and Patsy Darlene in August 1950.

Emma Lue moved to the West Camp Community in 1924. She attended West Camp and Farwell Schools, graduating in 1942. She was a member of the Lariat Church of Christ. Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie in 1968; her parents, and two sisters, Illa Lee and Bernyce.

Survivors are as follows: Delton and his wife, Nelda, have three children: Lonnie Paul, Dustin and Erin. Lonnie Paul and Patty have two children: Colby and Ashlie. Dustin and Myranda have four daughters: Mykaylee, Addyson, Emma and Palynn. Erin and Wes have two children: Sye and Wynn. Patsy and her husband, Mike, have two children: Kara and Klay. Kara and her husband Doug have three children: Dustin, Jill and Logan. Klay and Jeannie have two boys: Wyatt and Ayden. She is also survived by one brother, J. W. Herington, many nephews and nieces and supportive family and friends.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the National Kidney Foundation, 4601 – 50th Street, Suite 101, Lubbock, Texas, 79414.
