Ronnie died July 28, 2015 in Amherst, Texas. He was born September 2, 1943 in Ft. Bliss, Texas to Glenn and Martha Louise (Jones) Gatewood.

Ronnie was a Vice-President of First National Bank of Sudan. He was a member of the Sudan Volunteer Fire Department and the Jaycees. He was also a member of the Sudan Church of Christ. Ronnie was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray Gatewood; a daughter, Rachael Lynn Gatewood; and his parents.

Survivors include, a son, Ronald Stuart Gatewood II of San Francisco, California; two daughters, Rhonda Erlene Reagan and her husband, Eldon of Bryan, Texas and Amanda Gay Fray and her husband, Steve of Loretto, Minnesota; a sister, Glenna Ann Bridwell and her husband, Jerry of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; a brother, Gary Grant Gatewood and his wife, Kathy of Sudan, Texas; and two grandchildren, Tara Amanda Chester and Lacey DeAnne Chester.
