Obituary for J.O. Parker

J.O.  Parker
Service for J.O. Parker, age 74, of Muleshoe, Texas, is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday, November 30, 2015 at First Assembly of God Church in Muleshoe with Jack Stone of Muleshoe officiating. Burial will be in Bailey County Cemetery. J.O. died November 26, 2015 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born September 19, 1941 in Cass County, Texas to William Wilson “W.W.” and Lois (Richey) Parker. He married Leavell Owen in Muleshoe on April 9, 1960.      

J.O. moved from Cass County to Muleshoe in 1951. He was a lineman for Bailey County Electric until he retired in 2002. J.O. was the Assistant Fire Marshall and Training Officer for the Muleshoe Volunteer Fire Department. He was also president of the Panhandle Firemen Fire Marshalls Association in 2005-2006. He was a fire instructor at Texas A&M Fire School. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include, his wife Leavell; his son, Benny Parker and his wife, Karissa of Muleshoe, Texas; his two daughters, Brenda Stephens of Smyer, Texas and Sondra Scolley of Mulehsoe, Texas; two sisters, Hope Odom of Lubbock, Texas and Judy Metcalf of Carthage, Texas; one brother, Alton Parker of Muleshoe, Texas; five grandchildren, Shyann Stephens, Ashley Scolley, Mandy Edwards, Blake Parker and Kinsey Parker; and two great-grandchildren, Braylee Scolley and Hagen Edwards.

The family suggests donations be made to the Muleshoe Volunteer Fire Department, 215 South First Street, Muleshoe, Texas, 79347.
