Obituary for Brenda Kay Akin (Mullinax)
Memorial Service for Brenda Kay Akin, 69, of Morton, Texas, is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 28, 2016 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Morton with Mokie McCrary of Levelland, Texas officiating. Brenda passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Morton. She was born August 19, 1946 in Lubbock, Texas to James Aldon and Minnie Vertiz (Miller) Mullinax. She married Eddie Akin in Morton on August 30, 1985.
Brenda was a housewife and a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Morton. She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Norma Jane Pool and Linda Sue Mullinax; and one brother, James Carol Mullinax.
Survivors include, her husband, Eddie; her son, Kevin Garner and his wife, Amy of Lubbock, Texas; her three daughters, Shawn Garner and Greg Scott of Morton, Texas, Shelly Garner and Dustin Johnson of Amarillo, Texas and K’Wyn Lawson and her husband, Josh of Levelland, Texas; two sisters, Peggy Hodge of Borger, Texas and Teresa Smith of Morton, Texas; one brother, Jimmy Mullinax of Morton, Texas; eight grandchildren, Dustin Dayton and his wife, Jenny, McCade Garner, Jaycie Garner, Harlee Garner, Logan Garner, Codee Jo LeCrone, Colton LeCrone and Daxton Garner.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, 3411 – 73rd Street, Lubbock, Texas, 79423 or Legacy of Love Hospice, 125 East Marshall Howard Blvd, Littlefield, Texas, 79339.
