Obituary for James Arthur "Sandy" Sanderson (Sanderson)

James Arthur "Sandy"  Sanderson (Sanderson)
Church Service for James "Sandy" Arthur Sanderson, 86, of Springlake, Texas will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Springlake, Texas with Rob Norris and Travis LaDuke officiating. Burial will be in Springlake Cemetery. He passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. James was born in Granbury, Texas, December 15, 1929 to JB and Lorena (Marsden) Sanderson.

James attended school at Glenrose, Texas. He moved to Tulia where he met the love of his life, Lola Mae Burrow. They married on August 19, 1949 in the home of Lola’s sister, Iva Ferguson in Tulia Texas. They lived in Tulia for three years, where James worked as a carpenter and at the local grocery store. They moved to Springlake, where he later was involved in the Farm Chemical Store which he owned and operated for the rest of his life, while he also farmed. He was a charter member of the Springlake Lions Club, and a member of the Earth Senior Citizens. James’ hobbies included golf, fishing and meeting for afternoon coffee with his buddies. He also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes almost every night with Lola. He loved all of his family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchild and extended family as well. James was a member of the First Baptist Church in Springlake. He is proceeded in death by his sister, Evalyne Albers; brothers, Charles and Alden Sanderson; and parents, JB and Lorena Sanderson.

Survivors include his wife, Lola of Springlake; his two sons, Stephen Neil and his wife, Lisa of Albuquerque, New Mexico and James Brian of Lubbock, Texas, where Sandy spent the last 5 months of his life receiving wonderful care; and his sister, Gleneva Easterwood of Temple, Texas. James had ten grandchildren, Carissa Sanderson, Jeremy Sanderson, Andrew Sanderson, Hollie Billings, Shelli Bowman, Mike Brannen, Ashley Heffner-Russo, Emily DiDonna, Heather Sanderson and Matthew Sanderson; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Texas Scottish Rites Hospital for Children, 2222 Wellborn Street, Dallas, Texas, 75219 and First Baptist Church of Springlake, PO Box 159, Springlake, Texas, 79082.

Sandy's sweet, funny, caring, joking, hard-working spirit will be missed.
