Church Service for James Preston Martin Age 95, of Farwell, Texas, is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 5th Street Church of Christ in Farwell with Leonard Harper of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Texico Cemetery. Preston died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in Farwell. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, June 17, 2016 at 908 – 7th Street, Farwell, Texas. He was born February 16, 1921 in Grady, New Mexico to William Estes and Lantie (Hankins) Martin. He married Doris June Keele in Hereford, Texas on June 11, 1947.

Preston served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer and owned Hi Plains Distributing Company for many years. He is a member of 5th Street Church of Christ in Farwell. Preston is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, LaVoy Martin, Albert Martin, and Darrell Martin; his sisters, Glena Dunn, Nette Belle Savage, Frieda Locker, Pearl Thompson and Alta Faye Burkhalter; and his grandson, Byron Martin.

Survivors include his wife, Doris of Farwell; four sons, Greg Martin and his wife, Sydney of Grady, New Mexico, Tim Martin and his wife, Susie of Dadeville, Missouri, Kirt Martin and his wife, Nancy of Lubbock, Texas and Keith Martin and his wife, Debbie of Crane, Texas; a daughter, Paula Vaughan and her husband, Kent of Earth, Texas; a sister, Elaine Phillips of Ft. Worth, Texas; a brother, Duane Martin of Surprize, Arizona; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be sent to 5th Street Church of Christ, 510 Avenue C, Farwell, Texas, 79325.
