Obituary for Pete Phillips

Church service for Pete Phillips, age 86, of Sudan, Texas, is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, September 2, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Sudan with Truman Johnson and Mike Woods officiating. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery. Pete died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in Amherst. He was born April 6, 1930 in Sudan. He married
Norma Humphrey in Clovis, New Mexico in 1954.

Pete was a 1948 graduate of Sudan High School. He was employed for the City of Sudan for 32 years and was the Director of Public Works. He was very active in the Sudan Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years. Pete loved to play dominoes and enjoyed working in the garden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sudan. Pete is preceded in death by his parents; his twin sisters, Alta and Alma; and his brother, Claude Phillips.

Pete is survived by his wife, Norma; his son, Robert Phillips and his wife, Tanna of Sudan, Texas; his two daughters, Deanna Humphreys and her husband, Kevin of Sudan, Texas and Chyrel Mitchell and her husband, Corey of Lubbock, Texas; seven grandchildren, Kris Humphreys and his wife, Tara, Kasey Ledbetter and her husband, Aaron, Tori Chumbley, Chase Chumbley, Cole Chumbley, Carson Phillips and Rori Phillips; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the First Baptist Church of Sudan, 108 State Highway 303, Sudan, Texas, 79371.
