Church service for Gereta Gage Meissner, age 79, of Muleshoe, Texas, is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lariat, Texas with David Symm of Lariat officiating. Burial will be in Sudan, Cemetery. Gereta died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born June 21, 1937 in Circle Back, Texas to Raymond and Thelma (Terrel) Gage. She married Calvin Meissner in Lariat on April 6, 1974.

Gereta was a resident of the Muleshoe area all of her life. She was a cotton buyer and bookkeeper for many years, as well as owned and operated an antique store. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lariat. Gereta is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin in 2005; her daughter, Pamela Davis; her parents; her sister, Mary Hanna; and two brothers, Skinny Gage and Bob Gage.

Gereta is survived by her three sons, Raymond Davenport and his wife, Judy of Muleshoe, Texas, Marvin Davenport Jr. of New York City, New York and Michael Davenport and his wife, Kim of Seminary, Mississippi; her brother, Raymond Gage, Jr. of Hobbs, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Misty Lassiter, Damon Davenport, Amber Davenport, Josh Davenport, Chris Davis, J. Pat Cooley and Greg Davis; and four great-grandsons, Logan, Landon, Eli and Nixon.

The family suggests memorials be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 725 CR DD, Farwell, Texas, 79325.
