Gilbert died January 16, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born May 15, 1962 in Muleshoe, Texas. He married Sandy Rojas on October 7, 1979. He is preceded in death by parents Julian and Guadalupe Dominguez; two sisters, Gloria Quesada and Rosemary Martinez; and a brother Dario Dominguez.

Gilbert loved spending time with his family, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan. He was a carpenter for many years and enjoyed being in the construction business.

He is survived by his wife Sandy Buenrostro of Muleshoe, Texas; two sons, Anthony Buenrostro and his wife, Brandy of Muleshoe, Texas, Thomas Buenrostro and his wife, April of Humble, Texas; two daughters, Marisa Eubanks and husband, Scotty of Muleshoe, Texas and Amanda Buenrostro of McAlester, Oklahoma; two sisters, Birma Davila of Las Vegas, Nevada and Lily Rojas of Pilot Point, Texas; three brothers Loy Dominguez of La Feria, Texas, Julian Dominguez Jr. of Muleshoe, Texas and David Dominguez of Muleshoe, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
