Laverne Smyer died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in Muleshoe. She was born March 5, 1932 in Hood County, Texas to Lancaster George and Lorene (Tate) Allen. She married A.G. Smyer in Herford, Texas on February 11, 1948.
Laverne was a beautician instructor in Lubbock and had her own shop in Ralls, Texas. She was also a former Bailey County jailer. She is preceded in death by her husband, A.G. and her parents.
Laverne is survived by her son, Allen Smyer and his wife, Carolyn of Muleshoe, Texas; her daughter, Kathryn Smyer and her husband, Ted Futch of Lubbock, Texas; her brother, Dale Allen of Stephenville, Texas; four grandchildren, Malessia McGehee and her husband, Kevin, Clint Montgomery and his wife, Rhonda, Craig Smyer, and Katy Montgomery; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
