Obituary for Katherine Nichols (Maynor)

Katherine Nichols (Maynor)
Katherine Pearl Maynor Nichols went home to her Lord, Jesus Christ, on August 23, 2018, at the age of 91. She was born May 3, 1927, in Nashville, TN. Katherine was known as "Meme" to her grandchildren and to many others. She was a very loving, gentle, tender-hearted, generous and godly woman. She loved her Lord, her local church family, Central Baptist Church, and singing with the Glory Choir. She utilized the church's library by reading over fourteen hundred books in the last ten years; one of their best patrons. She was also a fan of all sports, especially Texas teams, whether they be professional or college.

Katherine spent the last almost two years in the compassionate care of Farwell Rehab and Convalescent Center, as well as Interim Hospice Care. All of the staff tenderly took care of her many needs and was a blessing to her family. Many of the staff members spent time with her watching numerous ball games and were amazed at how much she enjoyed the games. Katherine especially enjoyed hearing the old 40's music, the Andrews Sisters being her favorite.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Nichols Splawn (husband: Terry Splawn), of Clovis, NM, three sons: Ross E. Nichols of Clovis, NM, Alvie L. Nichols (wife: Julia Bruce Nichols) of Pflugerville, TX, and Keith C. Nichols (wife: Kimberly Herman Nichols) of Austin, Texas, her grandchildren: Melody Splawn Rikel (husband: Brad Rikel) of Clovis, NM, and David Splawn (wife: Stacey Gillispie Splawn) of Marshall, TX, her great-grandchildren Harrison and Chloe Rikel of Clovis, NM, and Parker, Jack, Sam and Clark Splawn of Marshall ,TX.

Katherine Nichols was preceded in death by her husband Clyde C. Nichols, December 1995, (USAF Retired).

Visitation with the family will be September 1, 2018, in the Foyer from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Central Baptist Church, 2501 N. Norris, Clovis, NM. Funeral Services: 1:00pm on September 1, 2018, at Central Baptist Church, Clovis, NM. Interment: Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX, on September 4, 2018. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband of 51 years.
