Nelda Merriott died August 20, 2016 in Muleshoe. She was born April 1, 1934 in El Reno, OK to Virgil LeBleu and Ora (Stoner) LeBleu. She married Lonnie Dee Merriott in Muleshoe on June 24, 1954.

Nelda moved to Muleshoe in 1957 from Lazbuddie, TX. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist. She was the Bailey County District Clerk for almost 40 years where she won many awards for her work as Clerk. Nelda was very involved in her community and was a lifelong leader of the Muleshoe Girl Scouts. She also contributed much of her time to the Jenny Slipper Organization and the Heritage Foundation. Nelda is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Merriott, parents, Virgil and Ora Lebleu, and brother, Leon Lebleu.

Nelda is survived by her sons Gary Merriott and his wife Celia of Amarillo, TX and Mickey Merriott and his wife Dawn of Earth, TX; her sister, Wannie Frazier of Muleshoe, TX; her brother, Jack LeBleu of Howe, TX; her three grandchildren, Jordan Merriott of Amarillo, TX, Kristi Pederson of Henrietta, TX, and Trey Pederson of Austin, TX; and her four great-grandchildren, Elijah, Arizona, Ezekiel, and Zoie.
