Angelita (Martinez) Grado, age 80, of Morton, Texas, died Monday, August 22, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born October 8, 1941 in Coleman, Texas to Alfredo and Lupe (Saenz) Martinez. She married Jesus Grado in Morton, Texas on December 28, 1960.
Angelita enjoyed traveling and cooking, with her specialty being tortillas and enchiladas. She loved being around her kids and grandkids. She was an avid fan of novellas and music, especially Tejano music. Her favorite song was “Charanga”. She played bingo and poker and loved doing crosswords. Angelita was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus; a son, Jesse Grado; her parents; two sisters, Josie Elizondo and Florence Lucero; and two brothers, Alex Martinez and Gilbert Martinez.
Angelita is survived by her son, Jimmy Grado and his wife, Myra of Levelland, Texas; her three daughters, Lilly Grado of Morton, Texas, Florence Alvarez and her husband, Robert of Morton, Texas and Josie Alvarez and her husband, Ruben of Morton, Texas; her four sisters, Amy Sanchez and her husband, Red of Morton, Texas, Lola Gonzalez and her husband, Albert of Morton, Texas, Diane Martinez of Morton, Texas and Eloise Sepulbeda and her husband, Albert of Morton, Texas; daughter-in-law, Theresa Maria Grado; her five brothers, Joe Martinez of Lubbock, Texas, Raymond Martinez of Morton, Texas, David Martinez of Morton, Texas, Gilbert Martinez of Morton, Texas and Alfred Martinez Jr. and his wife, Connie of Plains, Texas; her sister-in-law, Melly Martinez of Morton, Texas; her eight grandchildren, Jimmy Grado and his wife, Monica, Jennifer Cantu and her husband, Victor, Robert Alvarez Jr., Alexis Ruiz and her husband, Ivan, Jacob Alvarez, Myranda Alvarez, Eric Alvarez, and Ashley Grado; her nine great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren.
