Arthur Dwaine Wheat, age 84, of Hereford, Texas died Friday, April 10, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. He was born September 8, 1935 in Amherst, Texas to Thomas Edgar and Leta Yvonne (Jennings) Wheat. He married Doris Lucille Jones in Earth, Texas on April 24, 1953.
Arthur began working as a cotton farmer, before working for the City of Muleshoe, Texas and the City of Andrews, Texas. He retired in 1990 and moved to Hereford. Arthur enjoyed gardening and was a ham radio operator. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Lucille; his three sons, Donnie Wheat andhis wife, Carol of Plainview, Texas, David Wheat and his wife, Glenda, of Hobbs, New Mexico and Jerry Wheat of Hereford, Texas; his three sisters, Kay Wheat Davis of Amarillo, Texas, Minnie Wheat Ellis of Lake Jackson, Texas and Frances Wheat Rhodler of Brazoria, Texas; his brother, Joe Edd Wheat of Amarillo, Texas; his six grandchildren; his fourteen, great-grandchildren; his great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
