Obituary for Butch Vandiver

Butch died Thursday, January 23, 2020 in Muleshoe. was born December 15, 1940 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Henry Floyd and Lilly Bell (Smith) Vandiver. married Doris Gregory in Muleshoe, Texas on March 5, 1960.

Butch served in the US Army National Guard and Reserves. He was a Deacon at the Muleshoe Church of Christ, where he was a member for many years. Butch was a Bailey County Commissioner for 20 years. He was also a member of the Muleshoe Golf and Country Club, the Oneita Wagnon Senior Center and Blackwater Ag. He coached Little League and Minor League baseball and was a leader of the Y-L 4H Club. Butch enjoyed being a volunteer at Parkview Nursing Care Center. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. His favorite past time was participating in all of the activities that his kids were involved in. Butch is preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Sylvia Vandiver; and his two brothers, Bob Vandiver and Bill Vandiver.

Butch is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Doris; his two sons, Monti Vandiver and his wife, Lyn of Lubbock, Texas and Tyrri Vandiver of Amarillo, Texas; his daughter, Staci Marchand and her husband, Jerry of Lubbock, Texas; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
