C.C. Mathews died Thursday, February 13, 2020 in Lubbock. He was born April 5, 1928 in Southland, Texas to Clarence Cecil and Georgia Estell (Bradshaw) Matthews. He married Barbara Ann Ivy in Muleshoe on August 31, 1946.

C.C. farmed and ranched for many years in the Lazbuddie community. During his time there he was a member of the Lazbuddie Church of Christ. After moving to Lubbock, he became a member of the Buffalo Springs Community Church. C.C. is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann; his parents; one infant son, Darrell Dean Matthews; and two sisters, Evelyn Matthews and Jo Matthews.

C.C. is survived by his two sons, Gary Matthews and his wife, Carolyn of Grand Prairie, Texas and Derrell Matthews and his wife, Treena of Dimmitt, Texas; his daughter, Angela Dunn and her husband, Lance of Lubbock, Texas; his seven grandchildren, Curtis Matthews, Brenna Price, Tory Harris, Zack Matthews, Kylor Dunn, Zane Matthews and Kaygan King; and his nine great-grandchildren, Maddox, Teige, Saxon, Jacson, Brynn, Parker, Bryant, Rollins and Kinsler.
