Obituary

Donnie died Thursday, January 23, 2020 in Springlake. He was born May 17, 1937 in Lubbock, Texas. He married Mary Drake in Donna, Texas on June 20, 1959.

Donnie farmed in the Springlake community for many years. He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Springlake. He was a Free Mason with the Olton Lodge #1257 A.F. & A.M. and also a member of the Littlefield Lodge. He was a charter member of the Springlake Volunteer Fire Department. Donnie was also a charter member of the Springlake Lions Club. He served on the Springlake Earth ISD School Board, the first Appraisal Board in Lamb County and the Lamb County Historical Mission. Donnie was a Vice-President at Citizens State Bank in Earth. Donnie loved arrowhead hunting and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed antiquing. Donnie is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy Wayne Clayton; and a grandson, Luke Templeton.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Mary; his two sons, William Keith Clayton and his wife, Laura of Springlake, Texas and Matthew Clayton and his wife, Tori of Springlake, Texas; his two daughters, Susan Templeton and her husband, Donald of Earth, Texas and Sheryl Brown and her husband, Mark of Dimmitt, Texas; his sister, Ann Kelley of Lubbock, Texas; 5 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Springlake Cemetery, PO Box 54, Springlake, Texas, 79082; Springlake Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 58, Springlake, Texas, 79082; Springlake Baptist Church, PO Box 159, Springlake, Texas, 79082; or the Earth Lions Club, PO Box 9, Earth, Texas, 79031.
