Mrs. Winders, as I always called her since she was my 3rd grade teacher was a wonderful teacher. Even after I was grown I just couldn’t bring myself to call her by her first name. I remember the last time I got to visit with her. I was with Mama as we were leaving Earth, moving Mama to Lubbock, and Mama insisted we stop at the beauty shop so she could tell everyone goodbye. We walked in and there was Mrs. Winders sitting in the chair getting her hair fixed. We talked for a while and she asked about my family and I remember telling her that I had started back to college and she lit up with a smile and told me how proud she was of me. That meant the world to me. Sending my deepest condolences and much love to her family.
