Obituary

Gaylon Burns, age 81 of Sudan, Texas died Friday, July 24, 2020 in Sudan. He was born August 31, 1938 in Knox City, Texas to William Carl and Edna Alice (Smith) Burns. He married Lynette Hill in Sudan on January 5, 1962.

Gaylon farmed in the Sudan community most of his life, where he was also a Mason. He was saved in March of 1956 in Littlefield, Texas. Gaylon was a devout Christian, who showed his faith to all he met by helping everyone he could. He was ordained as a Deacon on January 29, 1978 at First Baptist Church in Sudan, where he was also a member. Gaylon was a carpenter and an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors. Gaylon loved to cook and was known for his culinary skills with his dutch oven. Gaylon was a man of many talents, a jack of all trades, but his biggest pride was the strong love of his wife and his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brian Burns; and one granddaughter, Kari Jones.

Gaylon is survived by his wife, Lynette; his daughter, Machelle Falkenberg and her husband, Charles of Muleshoe, Texas; his sister, Patsy McCain of Littlefield, Texas; his five grandchildren, Adam Burns, Kami Jones, Brittney Bucksath, Casie Fields and Dale Jones; and his nine great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Sudan EMS, PO Box 491, Sudan, Texas, 79371.
