Obituary for Glenda Jennings (Robinson)

Glenda (Robinson) Jennings, age 78, of Lubbock, Texas, died Saturday, May 29, 2021 in Lubbock. She was born September 23, 1942 in Moody, Texas to James Robert and Sallie Cam (Webb) Robinson. She married Derrell Jennings in Lazbuddie, Texas on September 9, 1962.

Glenda loved music and had a God-given talent for it. She was the song leader at Lazbuddie United Methodist Church from 1975 until 2010. She led worship and performed solos, often with lyrics she composed herself. She also taught the adult Sunday School class and led the Ladies Circle bible study. Glenda had a true servant’s heart, and she loved her chuch and church family. Some of her closest friends were the ladies of Lazbuddie UMC. She also had a heart for the elderly, and was active in nursing home ministry at both the Muleshoe and Amherst rest homes. The residents there looked forward to her weekly music and puppet shows, which continued for more than 30 years. Glenda lost a son to childhood leukemia in 1972, and it had a huge impact on her life. She gave her testimony to other grieving parents through an organization called Compassionate Friends, in an effort to help those who had endured the same loss. God and family were her top priorities, and she lived her life accordingly. Her grandsons, Gage and Beau, have precious memories of the times they spent at Nana’s house. Glenda is preceded in death by her husband, Derrell; her son, Derren Jennings; her parents; her sister, Gayle McElhinny; and her brother, Jimmy Robinson.

Glenda is survived by her daughter, Jonessa Brockman and her husband, Guy of Shallowater; her two sisters, Sherry Gunstream of Muleshoe, Texas and Vicki Morris of Lazbuddie, Texas; and her two grandchildren, Derren Gage Brockman and Beau Philip Brockman.
