Obituary for Janice Nadine Hodge (Boatright)

On the morning of April 10, 2020, Janice Nadine (Boatright) Hodge, age 83, of Lubbock, Texas went to be with her Heavenly Father. There to meet Janice were her mama, daddy, brother and so many others, so dear to her heart. There will visitation and viewing until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Ellis Funeral Home in Morton, with a private graveside at a later date.

Janice was born on August 30, 1936 in Turkey, Texas to Austin “Boaty” and Tessie Boatright. She had an older brother, Wayne, and a younger sister, Diane. She spent the majority of her life in Morton, Plains and Lubbock, Texas raising two daughters and enjoying three grandchildren.
With her quick wit, and her love of visiting, we’re sure Janice has flooded heaven with her non-stop talking, since the minute God took her home. Janice could talk with people for hours and never run out of things to say. If you were family or friends, she would be the first to offer her love and support. She also never had a problem helping out a complete stranger. Janice was an excellent cook. She made the best caramel pies in the world. These were a huge favorite of both her daughters. She enjoyed sewing when she was younger, loved to pull pranks and enjoyed laughter. In life, we have many ups and downs. Through good times and bad times, we always knew she loved her family.

Janice will be missed. She brought joy to our hearts. Even when she didn’t feel well, she was ready for a cup of coffee and enjoyed visiting with everybody who came to visit her. One thing for certain, Janice is with Jesus and with her precious mama, she adored. She told us many times, the past few months, how much she needed and wanted her mama. Early this morning at Heaven’s Gate, she got that kiss from her mama that made her feel better. Janice is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Wayne and husband, Wiley Hodge.

Janice is survived by her very best friend, who she adored, Jackie Garrett; her two daughters, Pamela Bilbrey and her husband, Eddie of Lubbock, Texas and Beverly Snitker and her husband, James of Sterling City, Texas; her sister, Diane Brown of Lubbock, Texas; her three grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandson; her niece, Zeta Ray of Lubbock, Texas; three nieces; and two nephews.
