Obituary for LaNell Stancell (Stacy)
LaNell Stancell, age 96, of Muleshoe, Texas, died Saturday, February 27, 2021 in Friona, Texas. She was born November 6, 1924 in Spur, Texas to Will and Ammie Pearl (Hill) Stacy. She married Afton Dewey Stancell in Lubbock, Texas on February 12, 1944.
LaNell worked the schools in Lubbock and Muleshoe for many years. She was a busy person all of her life and enjoyed making quilts. LaNell was a member of the Muleshoe Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her husband, Afton; her parents; and five brothers.
LaNell is survived by her two sons, Gary Stancell of Progress, Texas and Danny Stancell and his wife, Kay of Levelland, Texas; her daughter, Sherry Curtis and her husband, James of Farwell, Texas; her eight grandchildren; and her eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the New Mexico Christian Childrens Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, New Mexico, 88130.
