Obituary for Loretia Irene "Rita" Kincaid

Loretia "Rita" Irene Kincaid, age 79, of Lubbock, Texas passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 in Lubbock. She was born September 21, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Creston Lee and Lessie Aylene (Welch) Earl.

After graduation from Mart High School in 1960, she attended the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas, and Weber State University in Ogden, Utah where she studied psychology. She was featured in the Mart Daily Herald in December of 1959, Senior Mirror; “She was secretary treasure of her class her Freshman, Junior and Senior years and secretary treasure of the Latin Club her Senior year. She was class favorite her junior year, May queen her Sophomore year, president of the Math Club her Senior Year, and she is the Senior reporter for the Panther Screams. Loretia also took part in the Junior play.” Rita enjoyed the ruggedness of the West and found living in and near the mountains as her perfect sanctuary. She was known for her strength, determination, and grit.

Rita is survived by her three daughters, Wendy Holder and her husband, Tim of Wasilla, Alaska, Angelina Douglas of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Shavonne Marable and her husband, James Brennan of Wolfforth, Texas; her niece, Tricia Earl; and her seven grandchildren, Hannah Holder, Emily Shearer, Lilly Holder, Cassondra Lockhart, Dannielle Santo, Rachel Kinser and David Creston Marable; and her six great-grandchildren, Sophie Jenkins, William Jenkins, Kenzie Santo, Tristan Kinser, Calliope Shearer and Waylon Shearer.
