Mary Jean Minor died Thursday, October 18, 2018 in Levelland, Texas at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 4 days. She was born May 14, 1923 in Longhorn Mountains, Oklahoma to Walter Lee and Cordia (Wright) Lavinder. She married L.B. Minor in Morton on January 29, 1948.
Mary was an Avon representative for many years. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Morton. She is preceded in death by her husband, L.B.; two sons, Donald D. Minor and Ronald Minor; her parents; two sisters, Annie Short and Opal Lashbrook; and three brothers, Charlie Lavinder, Luther Lavinder and Orville Lavinder.
Mary is survived by her son, L.B. (Levie) Minor Jr. of Lubbock, Texas; her two daughters, Mary Halsey and her husband, Don of Richardson, Texas and Prescillia Brown and her husband, Freddie of Morton, Texas; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be sent to First Missionary Baptist Church, 102 East Taylor, Morton, Texas, 79346.
