Obituary for Raymond Treider Jr.

Raymond Godfrey Treider, Jr., age 93, passed away peacefully June 24, 2020 in Farwell, Texas. He was born June 4, 1927 in Lazbuddie, Texas, son of the late Raymond Godfrey Treider, Sr. and Nola Vaughan. Raymond married Charleta Jean Neely on January 17, 1950 in Clovis, New Mexico who preceded him May 9, 1988.

Raymond truly loved being a Mason and was proud to be associated with the brotherhood and honor that it represented. He started his career as a mechanic in Corpus Christi, Texas where he met the love of his life and eventually moved back to Lazbuddie to work in his father’s Phillips 66 gas station. He also discovered a passion for public service as a Parmer County Deputy Sheriff for four years and Parmer County Precinct 4 Commissioner for eight years. Through his influence, he introduced water conservation projects within the Precinct 4 district which eventually constructed the Running Water Draw Dam northeast of Lazbuddie. His serving the public was definitely one of his personal honors. He also worked part time for Foster Fertilizer as a butane serviceman and helped with transportation while he practiced and began perfecting his craft as a Master Carpenter. Raymond touched many of the homes in the Parmer and Bailey Counties with remodeling, reroofing and home repairs. In fact, there are many fireplaces that he built helping to keep local farmers and businessmen warm during the bitter cold West Texas winters. There really were not many construction or remodel challenges that he would not take head-on and finish the job as if they were his very own. Raymond was also an avid fisherman and would venture to many Texas & New Mexico lakes with his wife, Charleta where they would enjoy being together in the outdoors. Once he retired and after Charleta’s passing, he spent most of his time fishing either in Eagles Nest, New Mexico or Zapata, Texas. He also spent some of his spare time hunting and finding Indian artifacts, some of which were temporarily displayed at Texas Tech University.

Raymond is survived by his daughter Raygena Barrett of Muleshoe, Texas and granddaughter, Becky Chabot and husband Bill in Gardiner, ME. Son Russell Treider of Horatio, Arkansas and grandson Russell Treider, Jr. and wife, Kristen Treider of College Station, Texas, granddaughters Caryssa Watkins and husband Wes of Rosharon, Texas, Caitin Treider of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Kylee Treider of Tomball, Texas. Son Reginald and wife, Renee Treider with granddaughters Victoria and Elizabeth Treider of Cypress, Texas. Children of deceased daughter Rhonda Kitchens, grandsons Joshua Kitchens and wife Lindsey of Midland, Texas, Toby Kitchens and wife Rae’ Lyn of Vernon, Texas and granddaughter Shauna Gardner of Muleshoe, Texas. Also including 18 Great Grandchildren and three Great-Great Grandchildren, all of which he so very much cherished.
