Obituary for Tommy Ruby

Tommy Ruby, age 70, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born September 22, 1952 in Alma, Nebraska to Douglas and Elaine (Day) Ruby. He married Barbara Waite in Clovis on December 23, 1973.

Tommy served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. After serving two tours in Korea at Kunsan Airbase, he retired in Phoenix, Arizona in 1992. He worked with his father and brother, Rick, in a masonry business. They traveled to North Carolina to build smoke stacks. Tommy loved working with his hands, and was known for his strong arms and hands. He was passionate about drag races and horses, and enjoyed hauling kids to parades and rodeos. Tommy was an avid NASCAR fan and could be found, every Sunday, tuning into the race. He loved to road trip with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Ruby and Elaine Potts; two sisters, Gloria Kersey and Laquita Harmon; and two brothers, Rick Ruby and Stuart Ruby.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Lee Ruby and his wife, Chilynn of Hillsboro, Oregon; his daughter, Amanda Muller and her husband, Ramon of Oakdale, California; two sisters, Susan Ruby of Nashville, Tennessee and Sharon Trulock of Calera, Oklahoma; and four grandchildren, Triston Benedict, Alejandro Muller, Eli Ruby and Chayse Ruby.
