Obituary for LC Carter

LC  Carter
Church Service for LC Carter, age 91, of Ft. Sumner, New Mexico, is scheduled for 2:00 PM`, Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Morton with Brother Rush Coffman of Morton officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery. LC died Thursday, October 20, 2016 in Ft. Sumner. He was born March 5, 1925 in Matador, Texas to James Felix and Grace (Lebow) Carter. He married Susan Addison in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 18, 1986.

LC served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Maryland, where he received 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a heavy equipment operator and diesel mechanic. LC was also a cattleman, and loved his cows. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Carter; a son, Allen Carter; a granddaughter, Chelsea Carter; his parents; and three brothers, Neal Carter, Otis Carter and HT Carter

LC is survived by his wife, Susan; two sons, Michael Dandridge and his wife, Sue Yang of Hong Kong, China and Claude Mason of Eunice, New Mexico; a daughter, Debra McKnight of Clovis, New Mexico; two sisters, Zane Gushwa of Elida, New Mexico and Lillian O’Toole of Santa Barbara, California; a brother, Bill Carter and his wife, Dixie of Morton, Texas; five grandchildren, Shea Hunt, Brooke Dandridge, Chris Carter, Dan Young Dandridge and Terry McKnight; and numerous great-grandchildren.
