Richard died September 24, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born December 1, 1957 in Muleshoe to Alexander and Lupe (Montano) Castorena. He married Maria Soliz in Clovis, New Mexico on December 30, 2002.

Background:
Richard was a truck driver for many years. He was preceded in death by his father and one grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Maria; two sons, Christopher Castorena of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Eric Flores of Muleshoe, Texas; six daughters, Ariel Castorena of Lubbock, Texas, Brandy Castorena of Muleshoe, Texas, Mireya Castorena of Muleshoe, Texas, Amanda Castorena of McAllen, Texas, Cassandra Castorena of McAllen, Texas, and Elisa Vara of Bovina, Texas; his mother, Lupe Castorena of Muleshoe, Texas; three sisters, Anna Perez of Muleshoe, Texas, Gloria C. Olivarez of Kingsville, Texas and Crystal Vasquez of Earth, Texas; three brothers, Eddie Castorena of Lubbock, Texas, Ray Castorena of Killeen Texas, and David Castorena of San Antonio, Texas; and nine grandchildren.
