Carol died December 27, 2014 in Farwell, Texas. She was born June 8, 1922 in Jefferson, Oklahoma to Carl Henry Schmitz and Tena Elizabeth (Dietzman) Schmitz. Carol lived in Sudan from 1984 to 1989, moving to Portales, N.M. where she lived until she moved to a long term care facility in Farwell.

Carol was a member of the 3rd and Kilgore Church of Christ in Portales, New, Mexico. She taught Sunday school for many years, and also helped with Girl Scouts, 4-H, Boy Scouts, Little League, and the World Bible School. She loved helping children. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter June Pierce.

Survivors include her Daughter Karilyn Olmstead of Edgewood, New Mexico, One granddaughter Karen Loper and her husband, Danny and their children Violet, Emmalyn, Abigail, and Lily and close friends Ed and Joyce Bialon.
