Ronald died January 14, 2015 in Olton. He was born July 30, 1926 in Lamb County, Texas to Norman F. and Gladys Lucille (Axtell) Cleavinger. He married Wylene Ussery in Earth, Texas on July 11, 1951.

Ronald lived in the Earth area all of his life. He served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. He attended Texas Tech University, where he played basketball. He was a farmer and a charter member of the Springlake Lions Club. Ronald was a member and served as an elder of the Earth Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include, his wife, Wylene; three sons, Bob Cleavinger and his wife, Barbara of Marble Falls, Texas, John Cleavinger and his wife, Shirley of Amarillo, Texas and Dave Cleavinger and his wife, Lynne of Levelland, Texas; one daughter, Julie Templeton and her husband, David of Earth, Texas; three sisters, Carole Dyer of Lubbock, Texas, Norma Dawson of Lubbock, Texas and Lois Wales of Dimmitt, Texas; two brothers, Jim Cleavinger of Dimmitt, Texas and Orville Cleavinger of Springlake, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
