Obituary for Julia Symcox (Southall)

Julia   Symcox (Southall)
She was born February 2, 1918 in Walnut Springs, Texas to Willie Isaac and Addie (Southall) Rundell. She married Vernon Symcox in Texico, New Mexico on December 3, 1950.

Julia had lived in Farwell, Texas for 83 years prior to moving to Salida in 2007. Over the years, she was involved in Oklahome Lane Home Demonstration Club and the Farwell Study Club, where she was instrumental in the construction of the gazebo built in the Farwell City Park. Julia was honored as Woman of the Year in 1980 at the Farwell Chamber of Commerce Banquet. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farwell. Julia was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Hillock; her second husband, Vernon Symcox; one son, Roland Hillock; three sons-in-law, Terry Cain, Gene Snell and Lee Hutchins; two daughters-in-law, Kay Hillock and Marcy Hillock; two grandsons, Rusty Cain and Jimmy Cain; one great-granddaughter, Tessa Marie Lorenz; four brothers, Travis Rundell, L.D. Rundell, Cecil Rundell and Weldon Rundell; and two sisters, Annabell Hillock and Willie Dosher.


Survivors include, two sons, Steven Hillock and his wife, Mary Lou of Coleman, Texas and James Symcox and his wife, Monta Gayle of San Antonio, Texas; four daughters, Judy Murray and her husband, Millard of Salida, Colorado, Janice Snell of Muleshoe, Texas, Gloria Hutchins of Clovis, New Mexico and Susan Franse of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a brother, Robert Rundell of Houston, Texas; a sister, Reta Dollar of Graham, Texas; 32 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
