Obituary for Glynna Merritt (Griffith)

Glynna  Merritt (Griffith)
Glynna died April 20, 2015 at her home. She was born December 24, 1934 in Sudan, Texas. She married Weldon Merritt in Morton on March 27, 1951.

Glynna moved to Morton from Sudan when she was in the first grade. She owned and operated the Beehive Flower Shop for many years. She started the Cancer Cake-A-Thon, which will be holding its 43rd Anniversary on Saturday, April 25. Glynna was also the director of the project to publish Texas’ Last Frontier, A History of Cochran County, Texas, published in 1986. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morton. Glynna was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon, on April 25, 2000; her parents; a sister, Dixie Jean Kennedy; and a brother, Keith Kennedy.

Survivors include, two sons, Monty Merritt of Morton, Texas and Donnie Merritt and his wife, Leann of Morton, Texas; eight grandchildren, Colton Merritt of Morton, Texas, Chase Merritt of Morton, Texas, Crey Merritt of Lubbock, Texas, Dustin Merritt of Pampa, Texas, Kevin Merritt of Waco, Texas, Shaun Merritt of Comfort, Texas, Macie Merritt of Lubbock, Texas and Braden Merritt of Morton, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Brenson Merritt, Maddox Merritt, Brenleigh Merritt, Paycen Merritt and Harper Merritt.
