Alta died May 3, 2015 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born May 7, 1929 in Ralls, Texas to Dave and Goldie (Dewbre) Singleton. She married J.T. Studdard in Clovis, New Mexico on September 2, 1947.

Alta was a sales clerk for St. Clairs. She loved fishing, bowling and crocheting. She collected Beanie Babies, chickens and roosters. Alta was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Morton. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. on August 24, 2004; a son, Jerry Don; her parents; three sisters, Peggy Jones, Betty Dawson and Sherry Bracken; three brothers, David, Ernest and Gene,

Survivors include, two sons, Jimmy Studdard and his wife, Vanessa of Levelland, Texas and Ron Studdard and his wife, Gloria of Sundown, Texas; one sister, Patsy Lewis and her husband, Billy Joe of Denton, Texas; a brother, Max Singleton and his wife, Sharon of Longview, Texas; two sister-in-laws, Gail Singleton of Artesia, New Mexico and Sharon Singleton of Diana, Texas; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
