Juanita died July 5, 2015 at her home. She was born May 21, 1935 in Gonzales County, Texas to Faustino and Augustina (Liendo) Garcia. She married Oscar "Joe" Castillo in Clovis, New Mexico on January 24, 1953.

Juanita was a cook and a member of the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Earth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; and a sister, Julia Garcia.

Survivors include, four sons, Jesse Castillo and his wife, Leonor of Hereford, Texas, Esequiel Castillo and his wife, Josie of Amarillo, Texas, Oscar Castillo Jr. and his wife, Angie of Earth, Texas and Carlos Castillo and his wife, Patty of Earth, Texas; a daughter, Tina Vasquez and her husband, James of Earth, Texas; a brother, Faustina Garcia Jr. and his wife, Lupe of Earth, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
