Obituary for Elva Hansen

Elva Hansen
Elva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. We will most remember her laughter and generous heart. She lived a life based on loving God and loving others.
Elva was a sassy woman who spoke her mind. Her honesty stood out in a superficial world and demonstrated her interest in real people with real needs. She always prepared food—for her family and friends, for potluck suppers, for anyone sick or suffering. And she remembered what she prepared for each holiday, reunion, funeral, potluck—for each person. These meals showed her love in the most tangible way. Grandma was a storyteller who shared our history, sometimes misremembering the details, but always sharing the joy and love of a memory. We will shine her memory into the world with each story we retell and each meal we share.
Elva is survived by her husband of 68 years, Hugh Hansen; their children, Margaret Schlabach and husband Bill of Lubbock, and Terrell Hansen and wife Tricia of Midland; grandchildren Kyle Schlabach and his wife Brigette, Kathy Appleton and husband Joel, Lindsay Hansen, and Cody Hansen; as well as eight great-grandchildren. From her we have learned that family makes life worth the living.
