A Celebration of Life Service for Evelyn Ritchie, age 89, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Sudan with Robert Roecker of Sudan officiating. Burial will follow in Sudan Cemetery. God called Evelyn home on Monday, October 5, 2015 in Ovilla, Texas. She was born April 4, 1926 in Belen, New Mexico to Daniel and Edna Corley. She married George Ritchie in Clovis, New Mexico on August 11, 1946.

Prior to Evelyn moving to Ovilla from Sudan, Texas in 2009, she resided in Sudan since 1953. She was a 1944 graduate of Belen High School. Evelyn was a homemaker and was employed by the Sudan Beacon News. She was a member of the Longbranch Community Baptist Church in Midlothian, Texas. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; four brothers; three sisters; and a grandson, C.J. Ritchie.


Survivors include a son, Captain Steve Ritchie, USN/Retired and wife, Lori of Walsenburg, Colorado; three daughters, Andrea Rylant and husband, Captain Arboth Rylant, USN/Retired of Ovilla, Texas, Janet Gwinnett and husband, Randy of Addison, Texas, and Debbie Young and husband, Jerry of Delta, Colorado; two brothers, Don Corley and wife Berta of Farmington, New Mexico and Ron Corley and wife Jean of Farmington, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly Rombach, Tammi Graboski, Mark Rylant, April Campo, Christie Renner, Michael Phillips, Vanessa Kaluger, Meagan Reynoldson, Allison Ritchie, Brianna Ritchie, and Julie Tynes; 17 great-grandchildren, Jim Campo, Dane, Kelsey, Kacie and Nathan Rombach, Sydney and Branson Renner, Sean, Cameron, Audrey, and Alyssa Graboski, Jackson and Elle Rylant, Ashley, Logan, Cameron, and Payton Vega; and countless and adoring nieces and nephews.
