Jodie died October 12, 2015 in Muleshoe. He was born August 15, 1928 in Gordon, Texas to Gussie B. Barrett. He married Virginia Dale in Wheeler County, Texas on December 15, 1947.

Jodie was a farmer. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia in 2006; his mother; a son, Rickey Barrett; a sister, Joyce Ferril; a brother, Donald Wheeler; and a grandson, Michael Barrett.

Survivors include his two sons, Ronnie Barrett and his wife, Sherry of Muleshoe, Texas and Robbie Barrett and his wife, Stephanie of Slaton, Texas; his daughter, Suzan Wheeler and her husband, Terry of Muleshoe, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that memorials be sent to Muleshoe Memorial Park, PO Box 373, Muleshoe, Texas, 79347.
