Obituary for Clara I Harbin

Clara I  Harbin
Clara Harbin, 92, passed from this life November 11, 2015 in Lubbock, TX. Church services will take place at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 16th and D Church of Christ in Muleshoe, with Curtis Shelburne and John Gulley officiating. Burial will follow at Muleshoe Memorial Park. There will be family visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Friday, November 13, 2015 at Ellis Funeral Home. She was born October 12, 1923 in Carter, OK to L.D. and Margaret Throckmorton.
She and Joe Harbin married December 12, 1941 in Whitharral, TX. After Joe’s service in WWII, they farmed in Whitharral until 1950 when they moved to Bailey County. They operated a dairy farm near Muleshoe until 1960. Clara worked at several jobs in Muleshoe, her favorite of which was at the Sears Catalog store. She moved to Hickory House in Levelland in 2013 then to Shepherd’s Meadow in Floydada in December of 2014.
Clara was an enthusiastic hostess. Her sparkling personality, infectious smile and marvelous cooking made grand events of hundreds of church, family and social gatherings.
She was a member of the 16th and D Church of Christ in Muleshoe. She was a faithful Christian with a servant’s heart and was widely loved for her sweet spirit. Her husband and her children did indeed call her blessed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her parents, her step father, W.B. Pointer, a brother, Clifford Throckmorton and a great-grand daughter, Haleigh Harbin.
Survivors are a son, Billy and wife, Linda of Floydada; a daughter, Betty Little Bingham and husband John, of Charlotte, NC; grand children, Aaron Harbin, Jennifer Harbin and Logan Bingham and six great grand children. She is also survived by brothers, Dan Throckmorton of Mayfield, Co; Verlie Throckmorton of Richardson; sister, Tressie McKelroy of San Antonio and a host of family and friends.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
