Church Service for James Whitehead Age 83, of Morton, Texas, is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 15, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Morton with Brother Rush Coffman of Morton officiating. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery. James died Sunday, December 11, 2016 in Levelland, Texas. He was born April 16, 1933 in Jarrell, Texas to James Bradford and Cecil Ethel (Morgan) Whitehead II. He was married to Joyce Jeannine Foster.

James had lived in the Morton area since 1965. He was a cotton ginner, a custom harvester and a hay bailer. He was a member of the Llano Estacado Driving Club. He is preceded in death by two sons, Jesse Don Whitehead and Jimmy Lee Whitehead; his parents; a sister, Helen McClure; a brother, Melvin Whitehead; and a great-great-granddaughter.

James is survived by his wife, Joyce Jeannine; his two daughters, Deborah Sue Thomas of Morton, Texas and Joann Davis of Lubbock; two sisters, Eythel Brown of Lubbock, Texas and Sue Trimbel of Club Run, Kentucky; two brothers, Edward Whitehead of Lubbock, Texas and Aubrey Whitehead of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
