Obituary for Edith Ellis Reed (Ellis)
Church service for Edith Ellis Reed, age 96, of Sudan, Texas, is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, March 3, 2017 at Sudan Church of Christ with Brother Terry Wilson of Sudan officiating. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery. Edith died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Amherst, Texas. She was born April 2, 1920 in Pittsburg, Texas to Richard Vernon and Dora (Gambill) Ellis. She married Arnold Reed in Clovis, New Mexico on November 24, 1938.
Edith was the bookkeeper for Watkins Gin for many years. She was a member of the Sudan Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold in 1978; her parents; one sister, Gladys Patterson; and three brothers, Kenneth Ellis, Richard Ellis and Vernon Paul Ellis.
Edith is survived by her son, Frand Reed of Van, Texas; her sister, Mary Schwab of Lovettsville, Virginia; her brother, James Ellis of Guyman, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the New Mexico Children’s Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, New Mexico, 88130.
