Helen Ruth Bebout, age 87, died on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on June 11, 1930 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Richard and Mina (Wolfe) Bebout.

Helen graduated from Tilghman High School in Paducah, Kentucky, and attended the American University in Washington, DC. She worked for the U.S. Department of the Navy as a technical editor. After retiring from the Navy, Helen worked for the Washington, DC Baptist Convention as a Ministry Associate. She retired from there to work as the Personal Assistant for Captain Bill Searle. Helen was one of the earliest members of the Briggs Memorial Baptist Church in Bethesda, Maryland. She served as Deaconess, Treasurer and Sunday school teacher, as well as serving in many other capacities in the Church. The people of Briggs were truly her Church Family and she loved them dearly. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and George Massingale.

Helen is survived by her uncle, Ed Wolfe and his wife, Marcelle of New York City, New York; her nephew, Richard Massingale and his wife, Nancy of Auburn, Washington; her niece, Ruth Hall and her husband, John of Sudan, Texas; 5 great nephews and nieces; 6 great-great nephews and nieces; and numerous cousins and friends.
