His Wave

Raul worked for my daddy, Lewis Wayne Shafer, in Needmore for many, many years up until my dads retirement from farming. Raul was such a life-safer to the Shafer family. What ever needed to get done, Raul saw it through. He would always wave and say, Hi, Linda, whenever he saw me. I remember helping him build a fence, and move pipe. Im sure I was such a big help. As I grew older and left for college, then married, I would bring my two children home to visit and he would take my kids for a ride in the tractor. They loved it. On one particular visit, I was in the yard with my little dog. Raul was passing by in front of the house in the tractor. My little dog bolts toward the road and was almost under the wheels of the tractor. Luckily, Raul shut that tractor down on a dime. My little dog lived to see another day. He waved at me and wiped the sweat from his brow. Thank you, Rail for your devotion to the Shafer family. You will be missed by us all. I can still see him wave and say, Hi, Linda!
