Maria died September 4, 2015 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born March 1, 1935 in Los Fresnos, Texas to Andres and Sebastina (Ruiz) Guerrero. She married Daniel Casarez in Levelland, Texas on December 2, 1958.

Maria was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Noel, her parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel; two sons, Carlos Casarez and his wife, Carrie of Whiteface, Texas and Adrian Casarez and his wife, Cynthia of Morton, Texas; two sisters, Celia Woodson of Muleshoe, Texas and Elvira Guerra of Whiteface, Texas; a brother, Juan Rene Guerrero of Irving, Texas; and six grandchildren, Elizabeth Maria Casarez, Carla Danielle Casarez, Bryan Alvarado, Ryan Alvarado, April Ramirez and Roy Ramirez.
